People Solutions Ltd is now inviting applications for the role of ‘Dairy Farm Manager’ on behalf of a leading Dairy Farm based near Wexford town.  This is a full time permanent role.

This farm has currently a herd of 300 high performing cows with 100 calving in the Autumn and 200 calving in the Springtime. The farm has excellent modern infrastructure, including automatic calf feeders and a 30 unit Delaval herringbone parlour with full Del Pro, drafting etc.

The farm has a full range of new machinery including tractors, loaders and diet feeder. Larger machinery work is outsourced.

Applicants will have experience of milking and managing a herd, and possess strong grassland management skills. Applicants should be self-motivated.   A full driving licence is required and transport will be provided.

The Role

Milking and Grassland management are key aspects for the farm so ensuring the maintenance of equipment, overseeing good hygiene, and ongoing milk recordings are very important.

You must have an interest in farm sustainability, development and continued herd improvement. Herd fertility management is very important, as is the ability to manage herd health.

You will manage a small team through good communication and planning, be comfortable in giving advice and instruction. You must have excellent leadership qualities, and create a good team culture.

You must be able to manage Health and Safety for yourself and all others on the farm.  You need to be a person with integrity, enthusiasm and be reliable.

You should be able to monitor farm expenditure and assist in drawing up budgets. We encourage continuous learning though discussion groups, trade shows, webinars etc.

Salary for this position is €45/ 50k per annum with performance related bonuses.
